Dear Technetters,

I have searched MIL-PRT-55110F and found that there are differences in testing processes and acceptibility criteria in between MIL-P-55110D and MIL-P-55110E but I did not get adequate information to clearly state the differences. I think to do this, I need to find the standards. Could you please send me the copies, if you have?

Regards

Sefika

There are many approaches one can take.

Some shops develop procedures to cover all rev levels but this is not always
necessary.

In MIL-PRF-55110F there are guidelines to be used to cover the varied
requirements.

Most early drawings spell out MIL-P-55110 without a rev level. When the rev
level is not called out one would use the most recent rev.

If the purchase order specifies a specific revision, say D, then the shop
would be required to follow D. There are very few situations where a buyer
would specify D and actually need it fabricated to that level. Most often
the use of early revs i.e. D, E, is because "we've always done it this way"
and when explained to them they readily apply the most recent rev or simply
apply MIL-PRF-55110 on documents.

It's confusing to many until explained.

Indeed. I am also curious. It was my understanding, although I haven't
worked with Mil specs in some time, that on any mil-type contract the
supplier is allowed to use the latest revision of any mil spec, regardless
of what is called out.

Now the real problem is if the PCB is designed to D, and the customer is
insisting on at least E revision. I think that is his real question.

I suggest getting 55110F and reviewing it. There is an explanation of the
differences between D, E, and F. The current revision is F amendment 1.

If you fabricate to the requirements of D, it will not satisfy E; moreover,
if you fabricate to E, it will not satisfy F or F1.

The current version F has an inspection plan that may be used to satisfy the
earlier versions.

I'm curious why you're stuck back on D and E.

Subject: [TN] mil-p-55110 d/e

Dear Technetters,

I need MIL-P-55110 D and MIL-P-55110 E standards, I have searched internet
but I can reach only MIL-PRT-55110 F. I have to learn the differences
between E and D revision of the standard.

Moreover will the pcb which is manufactured by MIL-P-55110 D will satisfy
MIL-P-55110 E?

Sefika
