                    Stirring the Specification Soup
                               - or -
Build Success with IPC & Military Fabrication Specifications

Sponsored by UP Media Group and Cosmotronic

The Greater Boston Chapter of the IPC Designer's Council will
hold its next meeting on Thursday, Oct 13th at 5pm in the
Stark Conference Room at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester
New Hampshire, in the midst of the PCB East trade show.

While we've all carried boiler plate from eons gone by the
subtleties between standard sets need to be understood if we
are to arrive at the right destinations. For years now the
Military world has been in a move to "commercial off-the-
shelf" but many old programs still call for MIL-P-55110 or
the obsoleted material specs. So why do we now find a new
spec MIL-31032? How does it compare to COTS (IPC-6012 in
Class 2 or Class 3)? How do either of these compare the
55110 that refuses to go away? What happens to the spec-
manship when you start introducing flex?

And, drum roll please, how do RoHS and WEEE affect spec-
        manship??? Bring your specification questions!

How do we get the right boards??? Come find out!!! We're
kicking off a new meeting season and need to hear from you
on what topics are needed, what meeting schedules work for
you, and all that. See you then!

Brad Saunders has held numerous positions in the PWB industry
and is a noted resource in the realm.

Cosmotronic is a rigid and rigid/flex quick-turn commercial
and military PWB supplier with over 35 years in the business.

UP Media Group provides news, analysis, education and the
latest information on techniques and technologies for the
electronics interconnect market through leading magazines,
        workshops and trade shows.

        Agenda:

        4:45 pm, Arrivals/appetizers
5:00 Jeff Seeger - Chapter Update
5:15 Brad Saunders, Bare board build specifications

        Location:

Radisson Hotel, 700 Elm St, Manchester NH 03101, on site with
PCD East. Just off the Granite St Exit from rt 293.

No RSVP's needed, just show up!

        President's Note:

Many thanks to UP Media and Cosmotronic for sponsoring
our first of hopefully many meetings this upcoming season.
After what I hope was a great summer break we will be back
in as regular a meeting schedule as we can muster, with
new and time-honored topics for all perspectives. As
always your input and support are desired and welcomed.

        Thanks and regards,
Jeff Seeger, CTO, Applied CAD Knowledge Inc.
President, Greater Boston Chapter, IPC Designer's Council
