You just opened yourself to a mess of e-mails from sales people who monitor
this forum. I am not such a person.

I really like the Metcal irons. They are more expensive but I feel they
perform better than any other iron. I will catch a lot of flack for the
previous statement but hey, I have an opinion.

I am looking to establish an electrical/electronic capability. I need
advise on the best solder stations to purchase for a general surface
mount, thru-hole new and rework capability.

I will want a variety of tip sizes, easy to change tips, adjustable
temperatures in some manner, good capacity (little temperature fluctuation
when you put the tip on high mass connections), no current leakage, and no
stray voltages.
