One. The one he hit for a single at bat, unless your math is like the
Motel owner in La. after Katrina had hit. He charged three workers $300
for a night's stay. Later he felt guilty and gave $100 to the Bell Boy
to give back to them. The Bell Boy couldn't divide $100 3 ways equally,
so he gave each of them $20 and kept $40. So now each of them paid $80
for a total of $240 and the Bell Boy kept $40 for a total of $280. What
happened to the other $20?

That is two at-bats.

Would it be 11?
If a batter was facing a full count with 2 down and a runner was put
out, then his at bat would not be completed.
At the start of the next inning he could then face a max of 6, giving a
total of 11 pitches faced in a single at bat.
My best guess.

Discounting foul balls, what is the maximum number of pitches a batter
can see in a single at bat?
