MEETING OF THE SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND CHAPTER
OF THE IPC DESIGNERS COUNCIL

Date: Tuesday, the 4th of October, 2005
Where: Connies in Derby
Time: Networking 6:00pm

Topic: Board stack-up building and how it affects the designer,
fabricator and assembler

Designers normally attempt to balance our layers to reduce the
occurrence of bow and twist. They also use their stack-up building
skills when developing impedance control models. However, there is much
more to stack-up building than meets the eye.

Materials come with choices in resin content and reinforcements that all
have an affect on the results of a stack-up calculation. This session
will discuss some of these choices and show how they affect all
involved. We will also look at how we can make these choices work for us
when fine tuning a stack-up.

Speaker: Gary Ferrari, Ferrari Technical Services, New Milford, Ct. Gary
is a consultant servicing the industry for more years than he wants to
admit. He was influential in the creation of the IPC Designers Council
and participates on several IPC standards committees.
