Based the EC's FAQ Sheet information, it depends. I do not know your
application, thus I have provided the background information (see below and
attached details) that I hope is helpful in your risk assessment of WEEE
applicability. Note: The EC FAQ Sheet information on Cables appears to
still be up for future interpretation (see July TAC Notes).

** European Commission WEEE & RoHS FAQ Sheet
1.13 Are Antennas, cable, fibre optics and waveguides cover by the WEEE and
RoHS Directives?

Antennas and cables meet the definition of electrical and electronic
equipment (EEE) under the WEEE and RoHS Directives. The difference between
electrical and Fibre optics relates to the material, not the function
(electrical cables too can be and have been used for the transmission of
information, sound, image, etc.) All cables insides and/or as extensions or
connections which are part of the equipment at the time of discarding are
considered WEEE. All cables used for fixed installations fall outside the
scope of WEEE.

Masts and pylons do not meet the definition of EEE. If the products are
integrated into a fixed installation they are not considered WEEE. Modular
cabling systems for voice, data and video applications fall under Category 3
"IT and telecommunication equipment" of the WEEE Directive and are covered
by the RoHS Directive.

**July TAC Notes Including the following:
Cables
The recently published Commission 'Frequently Asked Questions' (FAQs)
document had suggested that all cables fell within the scope of both WEEE
and RoHS. This was contrary to the UK's understanding of this issue and the
UK had written to the Commission requesting clarification. The Commission
said that it would look into the issue and report back.

Note: All interpretations are not legally binding See bottom of each page
from European Commission FAQ Sheet.

Best regards,
Paula

Hello

Would anyone know if cable assemblies or standard power cables, i.e for
household items would be included in the WEEE directive.
