I think you are right that this is not entirely clear, but I think that
post-dating back to the original Directive deadline would create a legal
minefield and remember this only affects WEEE as it applies to the UK
market.
They way I read this is when the UK WEEE regulations are published and
put into force (go through Parliament and become law) then the marking
requirement will be implemented and enforceable for the UK. I'm not very
knowledgeable about the machinations of Parliament but would assume this
can't happen until after the recess (October 10th) at the earliest.
There is no significant reason NOT to start marking as per the Directive
requirement (ie as of tomorrow!!) however

Hi Nigel, Chris, IPC LF Listservers,
Nigel or Chris, or , I read the last paragraph a few times and don't
understand if it was mis-written by Chris Tollady, or if this is a
manner of writing in England, UK that as a USA'r I don't understand.
"from the entry into force of the WEEE Regulations."
is the confusing idea tagged onto an idea I understand.
Does this mean they are going to move the official in Britian date out
in time or does this mean they are going to post date to 13August2005 in
legislation approved maybe in September, or October or later.
BTW, I do see that "The Government" is approving {in an understanding
way} companies that are already wheelie-bin marking in spite of "The
Government's" dawdling.
Yours in Engineering, Dave
