The problem, which has arisen on occasion, is if your brand name is
being put on the market by a distributor, they are liable for the
recycling guarantee as they are the importer.
They may use another company in Ireland which sells the same products
since that company will already be registered and therefore the
obligation is off their shoulders.
The majority of our clients do not have a residence body in most EU
countries but if they do not register, or aquire a mandate from their
in-country distributors, they will lose business.

I actually didn't look into this just gut response to being told we had
to complete the registration form and submit along with the fee but
couldn't use electronic transfer. You are absolutely right, we do not
need to register.

A quick question - why are you registering in Ireland if you have no
legal entity there that could do the job that your guys in England are
having to do?
I thought it was the case that if you had no legal entity
(distributors/importers etc.) then you had no obligation under the WEEE
Regs.

Just a heads up.
We were trying to electronicly transfer our WEEE registration fee to
Ireland. When we requested the bank details they responded that they
only accept cheque or bank draft. We have a facility in England so we
are now getting a Euro cheque book as making trips to the bank is not
something our staff was looking forward to. Also note Ireland only
accepts a hard copy of the completed registration form - fax is
acceptable, but, definitely no soft copy.
