Good morning all,

IMO T-50 should be a repository of information about how our jargon (The specialized or technical language of a trade, profession, or similar group) gives words incoherent meaning with respect to Webster, or well-defined technical terms, or most importantly the extremely-well-defined mathematical terms.

A quick strawman:

Plating Void (Noun): The condition of thickness less than requirement (often listed as "isolated minimum thin area") in an observed cross section of a plating volume. Note: contrary to implication, complete absence of plating is not a prerequisite.

Plating Fold (Noun): The result of plating into a concave structure (hole) until the opposite plating surfaces touch, forming a compound structure. Assuming that the plating interface of the fold is structurally sound; this compound structure is treated as a homogeneous plating deposit. Note: contrary to implication no Folding (verb) takes place.

Tangency (Noun): In a two-dimensional view (cross section, or external observation with negligible depth of field), the condition of the drilled hole circumference and annular ring circumference being tangent within the limits of uncertainty in the observation.
Note: the uncertainty of an x-z or y-z observation will be much higher than that of an x-y observation, hence the precedence of any x-y observation over say a x-z vertical cross section. The use of tangency as a registration requirement (as opposed to the use of minimum annular ring) leaves no guard band (the observation actual lies at the threshold of a breakout failure) and therefore drastically increases the risk of breakout to buyer.

Example: A laboratory makes dimensional measurements in a microsection with an uncertainty of +/- 0.0001 in. In a vertical cross section at this lab, an annular ring is observed in a to have a length of 0.00008 in. This annular ring is categorized as tangent.
