Steve, I don't know about the theories about this but we just put in the
desiccant and card, squeeze most of the air out and seal. If the card is good
when the bag is reopened we use the parts. ( As long as they are within the
original shelf life )

Subject: [TN] Sealer for resealing MS components...
Good Day Everyone!
First, I would like to offer my sympathies to all Technetters who were
affected, or had
families or freinds affected by hurricane Katrina.
When resealing MS components after they've been opened, I've heard that
it's not
really necessary to vacuum seal them. In fact, that it's not recommended to
vacuum
seal them, it's better to put fresh dessicant and a HIC in the bag and then
seal it.
The reasoning is that if you pull a vacuum on the bag and seal it, the air
inside the bag
doesn't have a chance to circulate around and allow the dessicant to be as
effective as
it could be. Is this true?
If so, doesn't anybody know of just a straight sealer without vacuum? The
vacuum sealers
are not cheap, and if I could find just a basic sealer that would be great.
Kind regards,
-Steve Gregory-
