Hi John,
Within the family of IPC Electronic Manufacturing documents, IPC-A-610D (D is current revision) defines acceptability where the processes and materials are defined in J-STD-001D (current revision). 610 also contains a slightly broader scope than 001 which is focused upon soldering specifically. They work well when used together and the definitions are consistent for the Class prescribed.
Best regards,
Mel

Subject: [TN] Class 3
I am not sure if this is the right forum for this question.
We may have a requirement to assemble to class 3.
I have a copy of ipc-a-610 and my impression is that this is more of inspect
to class 3 kind of thing. Does class 3 assembly have requirements for
fluxes, solders etc etc
Any input will be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
John Foster
