Here's the latest email exchanges:

 Hello Stephen,

Thank you for using the Cypress On-Line ConnectionCenter?.

Q: What do you mean by; "The part is pruned"...I don't understand. I want
to know what the gold thickness is on the leads of the part.

 A: Unfortunately, the 5962-9759802QXC had a Last-Time-Buy of 5th May 2004
and there is no pin-for-pin replacement part available.
Could you please let us know if you still require the gold thickness on
 the leads of the part.

(Now the time frame of "Pruning" the part has shifted a year from the last
email....still no gold thickness reference which I asked
 about in the first place.)

My response:

Yes, I still do want to know the thickness of the gold plating on the
leads of the part. We have the part in our possesion,
and are going to use it in a printed circuit assembly...I know the part is
no longer available. Our customer did a buy of the
 part before it was obsoleted.

So, after two-days, I still don't know what the gold lead plating thickness
is. I still haven't received a reply
on the moisture sensitive rating of the component...ain't this s%#@t
FUN?!?

We have a schedule to meet for our customers, and we need information from
OEM component manufacturers
in a timely manner to determine if things comply with accepted industry
standards.

It's almost like they don't care...they throw things over the wall...and
this episode is a perfect example.

When I have to go through drills like this, I want to pull my hair out!!!!!

I know Microsoft, now Cypress, and other large companies have started to
outsource technical support overseas.

In speaking with the individuals, they are really trying to do the best job
that they can. They are very personable,
and very eager to try and be as helpful as they can...but here you go.

You see what kind of difficulties I have come across in trying to find an
answer to what I thought was a simple, and
basic question. I still haven't gotten an answer.

Pretty sad customer support if you ask me...

Kind regards,
