Also if you have compressed air I've used very successfully a vacuum
generator (basically uses compressed air and venture to create vacuum);
cheap and no electrical/moving parts.
One I use is at www.fiberglast.com; check for vacuum generator. Our
setup including valves, tubing, gauges, etc. ~150$.

Subject: [TN] vacuum pump for cross sections
I'm shopping for a decent pump to pull a vacuum in our Stuers Epovac
chamber (approx 1500 cc). Ideally it'd be reasonably quiet since it'll
only be 20 feet away.
Any cross-sectioners out there with a recommendation for / against pumps
they've used?
