Subject: Re: [TN] no-clean flux "residue"

Presumably hand assembly joints, so fair to assume that not all of the
flux will be fully "cured", if that's the correct term,
and some of the activators may be free to dissolve.

Most of these cured fluxes are hydroscopic, and can have a Dk of 3 to 6
(3 to 6 even for the same flux on the same day and
batch!). Might be a concern if there are great lumps of it altering the
voltage fields between high voltage nodes and causing
regions of stress.

Out of curiosity, what type of oil are you using? I've used castor a
long time ago, good Dk match to the surrounding plastics
and laminates.

Best Regards

Subject: [TN] no-clean flux "residue"

Good morning,

Does anybody have experience with using no-clean cored wire solder on
through hole boards that will be submbeged in dielectric
oil?

Thanks in advance,

Phil
