Phil,
According to the July 2004 Technical Adaptation Committee (TAC) London
Workshop:
'Homogeneous Material' - a material that cannot be mechanically
disjointed into different materials
'Homogeneous' - of uniform composition throughout
'Mechanically Disjointed' - mechanical actions suchas unscrewing,
cutting, crushing, grinding and abrasive processes
These definitions came from Steve Andrews, Department OF Trade &
Industry (DTI), when he attended the IPC / JEDEC Lead Free Soldering
Conference in April, 2005.
Hope this helps.
Good Luck

Subject: [LF] definition of Homogeneous
Good Afternoon,
It may have been discussed, but can some one point me at a layman's
definition of homogeneous as it pertains to lead-free. All the
definitions I have seen make my eyes roll into my head and leave me
babbling in the corner. I need to be able to explain this in plain
English to my engineering force.
Thanks in advance,
Phil Nutting
