As has been mentioned by others, most any Gerber Viewer can generate the
needed RS-274X files, ONCE you have imported the RS-274D files.

The trick is to get the RS-274D files Imported.

You will need to first enter the Aperture List of the RS-274D Gerbers.

What I do, is to create a pseudo-RS-274X file, from a sample RS274X Header,
and using the Aperture List from the RS-274D files. (Basically, I use just
the Header info, and no Flashes or Draws in the body of the file.)

When I get the pseudo-RS274X file created, I Import it, and it has the
Apertures in it that get used for populating the Aperture List of the
program.

I can then Import the RS-274D Gerber Files, using the existing Aperture List
that I just Imported into the program.

The work may seem like a lot, but what you are doing is using the computer
to do most of the work.

I hope this tip helps some who may have to Import RS-274D files.

P.S. I use P-CAD 2004 for my CAD Layout program, and it allows one to Import
Gerbers for viewing. I have written a program (Ger2Apr) to help me automate
this process by pre-reading the Aperture List, since P-CAD does not read the
Aperture List that is embedded within the RS-274X files.

Good Day To All,

Does anyone know if there is a program which will take a Gerber 274D file
and translate it to 274X. Thanks. Steve Kelly
