Ingemar,

We have uses HALT for initial design testing with HASS as follow-on
production testing. It is not cheap, but we were able to find
weaknesses in the design. IMO, by association, that should bring better
MTBF. We perform these tests on our complete assembly. That is where
we see the most interaction.

Another test we are performing is the shipping packaging test. With the
completed working unit packed in it's special packaging materials, the
unit is placed on a shaker table for 1 hour and then dropped 12 times on
different faces, edges and corners. This has been very useful. An
electrically well designed unit is of no use if it can't get to the end
user without breaking.

Phil

Anyone out there who use these and really got higher MTBF? And was it
worth the cost?
Not much discussed about in TN? Maybe wrong forum?
Just in case someone was applying HALT&HASS.
My very q is this: can you apply this on whole equipment, or just on
single functions or
reduced areas because of too many parameters?
Cheers
