Simply write/scribble over the stubborn marks with a wipe off marker. And
then wipe off. This is also good for when people use permanent pens by
mistake!
Alternatively for a more industrial approach use label remover - the stuff
that smells of oranges. Or the similar smelling flux remover.
(apologies if this duplicates another answer haven't time to read all
responses)

Sorry to report to you that this 40 Graphic Glass Cleaner is going
to have to be put on the "did not worked" column. It only cleaned new stuff.
The faded marks were not faced by the cleaner, even after three tries.

Sprayway Formula '40' Graphic Arts Glass Cleaner.
Just had to erase some stuff that had been on there at least 3 years. Had
to clean it twice, but it did the trick.

We have a training / breakout room with large white boards on the walls. The
standard cleaner works OK for removing the markings left on for days or
weeks, but some still remains. Is there a better cleaning solution (not
likely, you would think that the experts in white board markers would know
how to remove this stuff if it sits dried for a while) that will clean these
boards?
Second question - can the white boards be waxed periodically to improve
their cleaning performance? What type of wax would be best?
