Steve,

I happened to be looking at the two photos on page 2 of your web site showing No Nickel Corrosion and Nickel Corrosion. I don't remember who submitted them but I'm a little confused I thought they were cross sections of ENIG plating on a PCB. However, the gold looks too thick to be ENIG. There aren't micron marks on these images so I'm not sure my approximations are correct but if I assume 1 ounce copper then the electroless nickel appears to be about 270 microinches thick, which is a reasonable thickness for electroless nickel. However, that would make the gold almost 50 microinches thick and that just doesn't make sense for ENIG. Also, the gold seems to be as thick on the nickel that isn't corroded as it is on the nickel that is corroded. I was hoping that whoever sent those images to you might read this posting and provide more information to clairify what these images are.

Regards,
George
