Hi Darma

Make sure that you get the qual data from your component manufactures and
make sure what MSL rating that they state that they are qualified for that
they really are.  With lead free you will see component peak temperatures
during the solder reflow process around 240 - 250 deg C and you want to
make sure that the components are not poping.

In regards to equipment as long as you have a 7 zone heated furnace you
will be al right with your equipment.  Just be aware cycle times are going
to go down.

You are correct. Does this mean that there will have be "special
treatment"
for this board, if this part is used? I guess I am basically asking if
this
is a red flag I should be waving at my customer.....

that may be true, but i believe the concern is that lead free requires
higher soldering temperatures.  so what to do?  maybe that's the question
and concern.

hand soldering is the worst possible way to solder when trying to keep the
temperature down.
