Methyl alcohol poisoning is quite similar to usual drunkenness in the
beginning but when the methanol has been transformed into formaldehyde and
later formic acid the real trouble starts since the human body cannot reduce
formic acid...but then it might be too late if you don't get medical
treatment quickly.
Lucky enough it takes time for methanol to leave your body. After 48 hours
30% of the dose is still in your body, 50% has left through breathing and
peeing and 20% has transformed to formaldehyde and formic acid. This gives
the medicals time to save your life with ethanol or 4-methyl pyrazole.

This is true for higher primates (humans, chimpanzees etc). Other mammals
like rats and rabbits can reduce the formic acid to carbon dioxide and
water. Actually, for a rabbit ethanol is more poisonous than methanol.

Worthless fact: Did you know that bourbon contains 260mg methanol/litre but
vodka only contains 0.04 mg methanol/litre (brands not specified)?

there

You might try methyl alcohol (methanol). A great solvent when used properly.
Where gloves use as little as possible. I did this with a 4'x6' white board
and found no problems.

Now, where to get the methanol? VWR, Fischer, Columbus chemicals. Get the
least expensive, all grades increase price significantly because the
contaminants are detrimental for analytical chemistry uses.

Properly label and use the skull and crossbones. No drinking, it will lead
to attack of the retinal or optic nerves and destroy sight.

I know it's not friday yet, but for trivias sake, what is the emergency
response for methyl alcohol poisoning?
