Leland,
You might try Corfin Industries, that's what they do for a living. They are
at 603-893-9900. Good luck.

Subject: [TN] IC Lead Conditioning Services

TechNetters,

Every now and then we run across some expensive IC fine pitched QFP
components, primarily in trays, that have seen damage to their leads. This
is caused by handling issues, dropping, or bands breaking within resealed
bags that have been punctured somehow in the process.

Instead of throwing these away, can they actually be "reconditioned" by an
outside service at both a reasonable cost and to satisfy our Class 3
reliability requirements? I know that leads that have been truly mangled
are candidates for the can, but what about those that are only slightly
bent, putting the component outside of our coplanarity specs?

I hate to waste money, but I also have to make certain that any lead that
undergoes a corrective bend doesn't decide to fall off during customer
usage.

Could you please lend your professional thoughts and prior experience with
this?

Many thanks,

Leland Woodall
