Depending on who donates the money, studies can be fixed to benefit the donor. Most of us have read conflicting reports by prestigious organizations. Like they say, do not bite the hand that feeds you.

Yesterday I received a copy of a presentation of CALCE's Electronics
Products and Systems Center at the University of Maryland giving some
results of their lead-free solder reliability study. I was startled at
the results since I have been a lead-free basher.

My company is CALCE member and the document is confidential and
proprietary so I better not quote any of it. All I can offer is that
other interested parties contact CALCE for membership and copies of the
presentation.

Legally, I can entertain no more questions about the contents.

Remember the Animal's farm: Two legs - bad, four legs - good?

Well, then: PB-free soldering - bad, PB-free - good...

Hi Phil,
Can there really be anybody left that thinks Pb-free solders are a good
thing?
