Hi Lothar, IPC LF Listservers,

<Are there any companies offering tin-lead removal from IC leads and
reprocessing with lead-free lead finishes?>
<
<We have some legacy products with obsolete components, where we carry life
time stock of these parts. We will need to get the ones that have lead-based
tinned leads reprocessed to make them RoHS compliant.>

In addition to the previous note remember MSL levels for non hermitically
sealed products. You might be able to recondition them to Pb-free finishes
yet the components themselves might fail under reflow, wave, or rework
temperatures. Use the JEDEC standards. Reconditioning as a process will
always need to remove the lead from the baths to acceptable percentages.

Yours in Engineering, Dave
