Has anyone heard any credible evidence that silicate desiccants can
induce sulfide contamination on PCB's?

I see this every now and then. I wonder if someone confused their
chemical symbols at some point and this is merely being propagated.
(Thought that Si was kind of close to "S" and away we go).

I could image that perhaps the desiccant packet paper might potentially
be an issue, but silicates? I don't know if I'm willing to believe that
sulfur compounds are common impurities in silicates.

Would appreciate any thoughts on this matter.
