Hi Chuck,

I appreciate your thoughts and you are right. Though I do get frustrated by
events and even a bit cynical at times, I am an optimist at heart. Just hard
wired that way by nature.

The quote you offered reminded me of another biting observation by a notable
individual.

"Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not
sure about the former."
Albert Einstein

Question is:

Was he a realist? (ignoring the painter definition)

realist
n 1: a philosopher who believes that universals are real and
exist independently of anyone thinking of them

....a protagonist? (two definition choices here... )

protagonist
n 1: a person who backs a politician or a team etc.; "all their
supporters came out for the game"; "they are friends of
the library" [syn: supporter, champion, admirer, booster,
           friend]
n 2: One who takes the leading part in a drama; hence, one who
takes lead in some great scene, enterprise, conflict, or the
like. the principal character in a work of fiction
  .... or both? ;-)
On a slightly different tack, I cannot recall the source, but someone
observed that the role of all governments is to create problems so that the people
can be kept busy solving the problems and thereby "pay no attention to the man
behind the curtain".
Cheers,
Joe
