Ramon,

From my sheltered view it would be fine (here come the "you can't do it"
replys). Where you shouldn't mix them would be during the "same"
assembly step. For hand soldering don't use OA cored flux with RMA
additive flux. In pasts posts I've been lambasted for suggesting that I
would use a liquid flux in conjunction with my cored solder wire, but
what was misunderstood was I was using similar flux from the same
manufacturer.

You would still want to clean your RMA flux residue before returing it
to the field. Or use a no-clean fluxed solder and save the cleaning
step. This assumes the customer is ok with no-clean fluxes. Some folks
want the board clean regardless of the flux used.

Just my unscientific opinion.

Phil

Subject: [TN] Flux

        All Technetters:
What are some of the Organic fluxes mild to low activation that
are out there and have been proven to work on surface mount components
in paste and wave solder machine? Also after a board has been built
using organic flux and cleaned, gone out to customers and returned to be
repaired, is it safe to use RMA flux? My understanding has been that it
is not recommended.
        Thanks in advance.
        Ramon
