Hi Scott!

If the hole is off only 2-mils, I would say that is fine...how much is
more? I don't know
that IPC has something that defines drill accuracy. That should be called
out on the fab
drawing.

Most fab drawings that I've seen call out +/- 4-mils for drilled holes..I
could be wrong.

If you don't mind, who makes the press-fit connector that is saying if a
hole is off 2-mils
will give you problems? There must be something else going on....

Kind regards,

-Steve Gregory-

I have looked profusely at IPC-6012 for a specification I could not find.
I need to know if there is a specification for PTH drill accuracy and
repeatability. We have a press-fit connector we are having problems with.
The component manufacturer tested one of our boards and said the alignment
is off 2 mils or more in some locations. I could not find what is the spec
in IPC to reference to, could someone please point me to the correct
document I should look at.

Sincerely,

SCOTT L
