Your problem is not that uncommon (regretably). Q2 and 3 look ok, Q4 and 5
need rotation or need to be mirrored. I am not fluent in ODB++, but the same
problem shows up in Gerber. Some companies that provide viewers implement
most of the Gerber commands but forget some of the "interesting" details and
D-code or Macro rotation is one of them.

And of course there is the little detail that ODB++ is a proprietary format
belonging to Valor and they can change, extend or "improve" the format with
version changes which may or may not be compatible with previous versions,
leaving other viewer providers playing catch-up.

But once the stencil manufacturer has imported the data into their program
they should easily be able to modify the image to accommodate for this
discrepancy. Just send them a copy of the picture you get on your Valor
viewer.

Subject: [TN] ODB++ Files...

Good Mornin' all you Techno's!

Gonna be heading to San Diego this afternoon to visit a potential customer,
hope the weather is as nice as it usually is out there.

I have a question about ODB++ files. My stencil vendor called me a few days
ago after I had sent them a ODB++ file to get the stencil made for a board.
They said for some reason things didn't look right at a few
locations...specifically at some TO 252/268 locations.

The two pads for the leads were overlaping the one big area for the base of
the footprint. I didn't have an actual board yet, so I couldn't verify the
dimensions of everything.

I have two different viewers here that are capable of viewing ODB++ files,
Autoview SolidModel by Cimmetry Systems, and a Valor Universal Viewer, of
course by Valor.

I discovered that things can look different depending on what you use to
view ODB++ files. Take a look at; "Autoview SolidModel" and Valor Universal
Viewer" on my page at; http://www.stevezeva.homestead.com

Look at the way the footprint looks for Q2, Q3, Q4, and Q5.

I just got the fab yesterday afternoon and confirmed that the image that I
see with the Valor Universal Viewer is correct. Why does different software
display ODB++ files so differently?

Kind regards,
