        Hi Mike:
Orientation of all components in one direction by design will definitely help to locate pin one. The use of templates overlays that inspection may use to make sure all components are there and in the correct orientation. Use a square mark to indicate pin one instead of a number.
        Regards,
        Ramon

For starters, get rid of all unnecessary bits, like component outlines, the boxes around SMT resistors etc.
Hardly needed when the component is fitted & when fitting them a component assembly drawing aids fitting.

Then you might have more room for polarisation marks.

Matthew.

Subject: [TN] Markings

As boards get denser, we are having more and more difficulty, locating markings on our boards without encroaching on lands. Sometimes it is even difficult to locate the pin 1 orientation marks. We use can the drawing to clarify some places, but this is not always a solution. Most of our designs are extremely low volume, so we cannot use a learning curve figure it out. How do you resolve this conflict?
