Just a note - most fabricators who are going to be alive over the next
few year can do 2:1 pad to hole ratios. I caution that many folks in
the high reliability area are surprised to find 90 degree breakout on
vias when they were expecting 360 annular ring. Many pad sizes are now
.016" with .008" drills and with via in pad to problem. When you need
to protect a trace to pad connection this relationship gets slightly
more difficult and more attention is need during fabrication.

Deac,
A .013" finished hole with a .024" pad is "STANDARD" fare for
fabricators.
We even get .013" FHS in .020" pads. We will make this without an
additional charge but ask if we can switch to a .010" FHS to guarantee
no
breakout, otherwise, allow some breakout on holes (no more than a mil).
We
are starting to see more and more 0.018" pads on BGAs- so
times-are-changing!

[TN] board fab

All!

We have a customer that has had a design that we did quoted for 1000
pieces
by a fab vendor.

We have a .013 finished hole with a .024 pad. We're saying that that is
not
a DFM problem. Any "GOOD "vendor should not choke on this.

What say you?

Thanks

Deac
