When we did some LF testing, we actually wanted to see what would happen
to a board that was printed, washed, dried, and reprinted and reflowed
the next day.

We saw no visible difference in wetting.

We were using OA solder pastes (I believe they were ORH1 and ORM0)
We use a pure DI wash at 140F.
And, the OSP was Entek.

Of course, if you are using different chemistries then your results will
differ...and those differences will be....well....uh....THAT DEPENDS!!
:-)

Subject: [TN] Washing OSP boards

TechNetters,
If one were to wash misprinted OSP boards would it be worse to
a) leave the solder paste on 4 hours and then wash and use right away
or
b) wash right away and then let sit four hours before reprinting and
reflowing

I looked in the archives, but didn't find anything that was particularly
helpful.

This is a general question so I can't give solvent, wash time (and thus
amount of OSP left). So, Doug P., don't give me "it depends" as an
answer!

Bev
