who is knocking? English is a fascinating phenomenon, a language that is continously absorbing and utilizing and developing from all the others. The friendly 'picking' you mention, is typical english humour, isn't it? I really enjoy this forum's capability to change from extremly techy topics to trivia and nuttia (new word?).
About something else, know of anyone here who use EMMI as analysis tool?

Please remember that lots of you in the states are supposed to be descendants from here & that you speak an altered version of it ;-)
Why not pick on the French language, where there are different sexes for words.
I'm sure that most languages have their eccentricities where the words are pronounced depending upon the context of what is said.
