This is a link to the blue book. The WEEE and RoHS are not directly new approach directives, but I have seen references to this interpretation in the UK Guidance.
a pretty specific definition of "Putting on the Market" see page 18...........

Subject: [LF] "put on the market"
I am sure this question has arose, I may have missed the discussion.
The WEEE directive requires producers to mark electrical and electronic
equipment put on the market after 13 August 2005 with a 'crossed-out wheeled
bin' symbol.
What is the definition of the statement "put on the market"?
--The date of actual release for sale of a product?
--or--
--The date of sale in a member state?
--or--
--The date of manufacture?
yours in bewilderment
Denis
