Explain a bit more - you pasted an ENIG board and then what? - just
wiped the paste off and the pads looked grey or did you wash the paste
off? If you just wiped them off you probably didn't get all the paste
off.
We have seen no problems with ENIG boards. We have used them for many
years with standard SnPb paste and now with SAC pastes.
Yes the ENIG finish can have inherent problems but if you have a good
pcb supplier then these should not be an issue.
Regards,
Chris

Subject: [LF] Enig finish & lead free pastes
During some printability testing that we have been performing, we
noticed
certain pastes were able to remove the gold color off of some of the
ENIG
test boards. Our immediate assumption is that the gold dissolved, as
the
surface that was in contact with the gold appears to have the nickel
showing through.
Keep in mind that this was just a print experiment and did not involve
the
oven at all.
Anyone else run into this type of anomaly?
