Yes electrolytic stress free Nickel with Hard gold should give a long and
reliable service.

If voltages/ currents are high and cost is an issue against 9999 reliability
gold is unnecessary. As the wiping action removes the nickel oxide.

Electroless nickel is hard but has phosphorus. May cause problems??

Subject: [TN] PCB Commutator

Hi Technetters,

Any suggestions for a good hard wearing finish that would extend the life of
3oz copper tracks being used as a sort of commutator. Am told that first
prototypes were made with chemical (Electroless?) gold over nickel. Some
lasted well, others not so well. Brushes are metal, sorry don't know the
composition. Approx. 5 amps current passes through connections.

Thank you for your assistance
