Matthew,

Hopefully your ECNs have more description of the changes than our
popular "Updated" or "See Mark-ups".

Not the dreaded ECN.

I have just finished scanning in & converting 2000+ to PDF (now that was
a long job).

These should be the official company record of ALL changes to a product
& it's manufacturing methods.

People leave, die or plain forget, an ECN will keep the info for years
beyond the life of the product.

They can be simple hand written notes or complicated computer generated
forms etc.
As long as an ECN is used to record all changes to the product.

Now that I have them all in PDF format & accessible over our intranet,
it is very easy for people to view them when they look at a products
history on the main computer database (which could be another place to
keep them I suppose).

ECN = Engineering Change Notice, the official document that authorizes a
change to an Engineering document, e.g. assembly drawing, schematic,
etc. Used as part of the change control process. Required by military
and ISO9000.
