Hi Rob!

How many boards are you talking about? I hope not too many...

What I've used in the past to rework solder contaminated gold fingers
is something called "Micro-metallizer Plating Pens" from a company
called Hunter Products: http://www.hunterproducts.com/micro-metallizer.htm

Almost all the rework I did was for individual fingers that were
contaminated
by solder splashes, not the whole contact, or finger.

I suppose it could be done, but I think that you would want to go down to
the
base metal when removing the solder contamination to do it right. To plate
over a lot of solder probably isn't a good idea.

If you go to the above link, you'll see what the system is. It's a pretty
neat little
system. Very easy to use, and very cost effective.

If you have a lot of assemblies that have to be reworked, you have my
sympathies,
because it's going to be a lot of work.

Kind regards,

Hi T'Netters;
One of our divisions experienced a "taping error" when masking gold plated
contacts prior to wave solder.
They now have solder coated, gold plated contacts.

I know there used to be some outfits out there that could rework/repair
this type of problem.
Does anyone have any contacts, recommendations, (horror stories), etc. that
might be able to correct this problem?
TIA,
Regards,
Rob
