It wasn't in the IPC-A-610. The J-STD-001 says that you cannot apply solder
to both sides of the board, though you can apply heat to both sides. The
thinking being that two fillets, one from the component side and one from
the secondary side, is bad.
But I don't recall an IPC standard that forbade soldering from the primary
or component side of the board.

Good Morning,

What is IPC's criteria regarding soldering on the component side of the PCB?
At one time I remember seeing that it is unacceptable but have gone through
IPC610 Rev D and can't find any mention. Any input on acceptability or
reference to IPC 610 location would be greatly appreciated.
