Paul,
Did you do the EDX measure on a bulk Sn96Ag4 (i.e., piece of solder wire or solder paste reflowed on a glass slide) or did you do the measurement on a cross section of a solder joint.  If you did the EDX on a cross section of a solder joint then I would look to see if there is another source of Pb that contaminated the solder joint.

Does anyone think that 3.5% Pb in a SN96AG4 (aka Pb-free) is abnormal? I
think it is, but I have doubters here. This was measured by EDX.

Does anyone have any evidence what this does to reliability?
Specifically mechanical cycling.
