Woah!

I was under the impression that ODB++ contained the CAD netlist information
inside.  If not, what am I comparing to when I do a netlist compare on data
extracted from my CAD tool?

Jeff,

Sending the 356 Net data file allows the board fabricator to perform a
functional comparison against the cam file data. It prevents electrical
function errors. You would be surprised at how many times they don't match!
PWB fabricators refer to it as Net comparison.
