I have been in electronics for over 30 years and this is the first I have
heard of a weak magnetic field (or most normal magnetic fields) erasing an
EPROM of any sort. Where did you hear this? I would like to see the source
for my own benefit.

Subject: Re: [TN] Magnetic Screwdrivers

        Hi Ken:
It is not a good practice. There may be parts like EPROMs or
UVPROMs on the board that may be affected by the magnetic flux. Although
some of the test technicians claim that the flux from a screw driver is not
strong enough to cause any damage.
To be on the safe side use clip screw divers instead.
        Regards,
        Ramon

Subject: [TN] Magnetic Screwdrivers

This is my second question today. I hope that's ok and I'm not over my limit
;-)

We have a person asking if it's OK to use magnetic tipped screwdrivers to
assembly our products. We don't have any floppy or hard drives in them but
we do have lots of active components. My feeling is that there is no problem
but I thought I'd as just for piece of mind.

Thanks and thanks for the quick response on my earlier fire retardant
question, you people are great!!
