You do not mention what the constructional materials of your machine
are. Some descalers will slightly attack stainless steel or microetch
the surface just sufficiently to provide a better key for future
deposits, so you are in a long-term worse position. Most descalers for
lime deposits consist of a blend of strong carboxylic acids and
surfactants. Those for flux-residue deposits are generally a blend of a
strong amine and diglycol ethers. You may need both (one after the
other, with intermediate rinsing, NOT mixed or you will get a VERY
violent exothermic reaction!!!!). Avoid any product with any form of
halogen/halide in the composition.
