Hi technetters,

I did not see anything specific in IPC-A-610 regarding this problem. A SMT IC, gull wings, has exposed copper in the upper portion, at the junction with the casing. It starts at the junction and reaches the downward curve (maybe 0.050"). Would this be considered a defect? The parts are going to be coated but then again I've been pointed out that coatin is porous and corrosion will eventually occur.

Can this be a manufacturing defect? Is there specs on copper exposition on gull wings lead? I don't remember seeing that in 10 years, not sure if I should pass it or not... and surely I don't want to come to the wrong conclusions...

Anyone has an idea on that?

Thanks!
