Hi Steve,
I could not see anything in IPC610 that would relate to that.
If the boards are conformal coated, I would allow them to go on.
If they are not, I still would use them based on the picture and my
experience.
Is the component body tied to ground? Just wondering if there could be any
growth issues from the splash to a lead.
Kerry

Subject: [TN] Solder on top of LCCC [faked-from][mx]
Happy Friday All Ya'll!!
We have some LCCC's that needed gold removal, and we did them here
in house manually. The lady that I had doing this was really careful, but
she
got some solder on top of a few of them.
QA was wanting to scrap them because of "solder contamination". I disagree
that they should be scrapped. I can't find any spec that says they need to
be
scrapped. You can still read the part numbers, and there are no solder
shorts
from the castellations to the top. Go to:
http://www.stevezeva.homestead.com
and look at "Solder on LCCC", and tell me what you think....these are
$50.00 ea.
and I don't want to scrap them if I don't have to.
Kind regards,
-Steve Gregory-
