Hi ChuckD, JoeFj, Bose-DanK, IPC LF Listservers,
I just saw an asterix in an article which is the last one I posted
under "useful links" (the asterix is in Table 1) that indicates that under
Prop 65 lead can be in external cables yet has to be under 300ppm.
My guess is that this low number (300ppm) is because of surface lead paint
test kits made for the housing industry to protect children who eat paint
chips and end up having problems. (Hey a kid's eating everything problem,
and probably a future fellow rather than a feline, growing new teeth can be
tough on a guy). From what I remember reading on the labels of these
things in at least an "Ace Hardware Store" these kits can detect down to
this 300ppm region. I finally found these kits that either a Kester, or an
Indium Listserver pointed me towards.
Any knowledge of why 300ppm was chosen within Prop 65?
(Hopefully the Nemi persons were right on this number)
Yours in Engineering, Dave
