Dave - you are muddling two similar words but which have different
meaning:
Practicable (as in the UK text) means - capable of being carried out or
put into effect
Practical (the word you quoted below) means:
concerned with actual facts and experience, not theory;
sensible or useful, and likely to be effective;
plain, functional, and suitable for everyday use

Thanks Kay, When reading the word "practical" in the UK (GB) wording
it does seem to be a bit more soft than "exceptional cases" which is
in the Directive.
So I can see where marking the product, at the top level where it is
humanly readable is the best approach.
The smallest size of this symbol that is still humanly readable by
most of the population should end up being specified someplace.

should come from WEEE Article 10 $3 "exceptional cases". I am thinking
of small watches, tiny thermometers, .
Do you see that the UK's rules, as presently stated, have been too easy
for the manufacturers (in member state producers) to ignore the
"exceptional cases" wording in the WEEE Directive.
