What I have seen in such a case was:
-case cracks
- bond wires separation from leads
-bad solder joints - usually the toe cut is done upwards and the burrs and
bare base material are above the solder joint in normal soldering.
My 2 cents

the design of the rework may not be the most robust or the most "IPC
Correct", the bottom line is that the Print takes Precedence. Typically,
when I see something like this, I blink my eyes a few times, shake my head,
and document the info on a DFM report with my recommendations. The only
time something is really a "NO NO" is when the customer says "NO NO".

I've just been informed of a modification on a boards that requires to
install a SOT23 NPN transistor to be fliped on its back in order to be
soldered. The poor leads are then bent backward to contact with the board's
lands of some other component.
