Are any of you familiar with the difference between traditional
rigid-flex design and a licensed technology called "regal-flex"?
I only know regal-flex, which uses FR4 in "flex-to-install"
applications, so the impedance calculations are the same in
the rigid area. Now if we go to a regular rigid-flex vendor,
do I just recalculate the impedance using the Er of polyimide?
Is that the only difference?
Part of the reason I am asking here as well as in the design
forum is that I know there are a lot of assembly folks here too.
Is there any difference from that point of view? profiles?
z-axis expansion?
thanks,
Jack
