Hi Hal-
I'm not sure what your housing is made of, but... in some cases we have
replaced o-ring-like gaskets with integral seals in plastic housings that
mate with motor castings. Wish I could tell you more but I don't know what
the seal material is or how it is bonded to the plastic prior to our
receiving it.

It costs, but more than pays for itself due to ease of assembly and
reliability.

If it's something you want to now more about, reply off-forum and I'll see
what I can find out.

Best Regards,
-Chris

Have you considered an o-ring groove in the plastic well?
Hal,

Have you considered an o-ring groove in the plastic well?

Assuming greases won't affect your electronics, you could add a SMALL
skin of grease to the o-ring to make it slide in easily.

How about a tool that is just smaller than the bore that can push the
o-ring into place?

Just a couple of quick ideas.

Subject: [TN] Oring installation help needed

Hello there,

This is marginally related to electronics, but hopefully someone on the
list has some relevant experience.

We are using some small Orings in some of our assemblies, just to keep
splashed water out, nothing really high pressure at all. We need to
seat these Orings into a plastic well, which is slightly smaller than
the uncompressed OD of the Oring. This is a bit of a hassle, especially
on the products where there are 20 Orings.

Has anyone developed any sort of a neat little compression and insertion
tool for Orings? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Hal Winslow
